Friday Roundup

  • My mood is beyond low and I think it is the going off meds that is responsible.
  • Spent 7 hours in the lab running experiments and in the end the results were inconclusive. Have to go through my data again and see if anything can be salvaged.
  • My post-work euphoria was conspicuously absent and was replaced by unfound sorrow.
  • A co-worker I used to like working with a lot, irritated the hell out of me.
  • Turned down a weekend no-strings attached sex.

Did you taper off the meds? I’ve tried to just quit (because I’m smart like that) a couple of times and had severe mood problems as well as feeling physically ill. I hope your doctor introduced a schedule to reduce dosage slowly until you were off the meds completely.

As strange as it is to admit, I’ve found myself thinking, “I’m so glad I take anti-depressants” more than I probably should. When meeting new cancer patients, getting poor (or inconclusive – sorry about that) results, having to deal with people who are inexplicably annoying… I like having the buffer and not getting quite so miserable when life goes badly.

So whether you decide to give it time and see if your mood levels out, talk to your doctor again, try a different Rx and see if it works better for you, I’m truly sorry you’re dealing with this on top of everything else. I very much hope you see some improvement soon.

I was just as smart as you if not smarter and went cold turkey on the meds. HappyFace recommended that I take reduced doses for a week and slowly stop them, but I over rode her expert advice for mine 🙂
