Where is our scientic temper?

I cannot help but think that these days its more important to be politically right than anything else. Take the cases of Larry Summers and Ward Churchill. Both of them just voiced their opinions on issues, and they are being persecuted for that. Whatever happened to scientific temper? I thought the whole idea of having Universities is to promote discussion, not ensuring conformance to “accepted” values.

Hear, hear, hear. There is a quote that goes something like “transcend political correctness and strive for righteousness.” It’s sad not many people nowadays realize what’s more important. The world is full of hypocrites, and it’s frustrating how small a number of people never challenge the status quo. Otherwise, how are you doing?

I am not sure if there only a small number of people holding up the status quo. Infact, I feel its only a few who really want to progress. Its really crazy how popular opinion dominates all logical conclusions.
Well, I have been doing pretty good. Marooning in work. The usual. I dont see you blogging regularly these days, whats up?

I meant wrong, you’re right, it’s frustrating how small a number of people EVER challange the status quo is what I meant. I guess I really am tired… work’s been crazy as my client’s project just launched. That and relationship problems, heh. I totally empathize with your last entry…
